BRONZE EFFORTS IN THE NAME OF CHARITY

STAFF from an east Durham beauty salon have set themselves a challenge of continuing their yearly fundraising efforts to raise cash for a local hospice. Rachel Barrass, owner of Body Bronze in Wingate and her team of beauticians, Ashley Head, Charlotte Binns, Lisa Turner, Zoe Taylor and Sarah Wall are aiming to raise as much money as possible by stepping out in the Midnight Walk in aid of Hartlepool and District Hospice.
The team are regular fundraisers in and around Wingate having raised money for other local causes with their last event being a bungee jump last summer, however Rachel wanted something a little less nerve-racking this year.
Rachel said “Everybody kept asking me what we are going to do this year for our fundraiser, and I joked that after the bungee jump last year, this year I just wanted a nice serene walk. We found out about the Midnight Walk from the Hospice’s website and thought that it would be a good event to do.”
The Midnight Walk takes place on Saturday 11 September with participants walking from Hartlepool Historic Quay to Seaton Carew and back. This is the fourth year the event has taken place raising over £170,000 for patient care services at the Hospice. All the money raised from the event is spent locally to provide specialist care and support for people affected by life limiting illnesses or the death of a loved one.
Rachel added “Everybody knows somebody who has had people cared for by the Hospice, they do such a wonderful job, so I know the money raised will be going to a very good cause. We are really looking forward to the night it should be good fun and we hope to raise a lot of money as all our customers are always very generous.”
