TEN LOCAL businesses have raised over £6,000 for hospice care at a corporate golf day this September. Teams of four from companies in the area took part in Hartlepool and District Hospice’s Corporate Golf Day on Thursday September 10 2009. The annual event was held at Castle Eden Golf Club for the first time with participants playing an eighteen hole tournament, followed by a carvery lunch in the clubhouse with the presentation of team prizes.
Tracy Woodall, Chief Executive of Hartlepool and District Hospice said “Our Corporate Golf Day was a great day and everybody who came along had a really good time. The money that is raised from this event goes directly towards patient care activity here at the Hospice as we aim to help people live with a life limiting illness. Annual events such as this ensure that we can plan and budget accordingly to meet patient needs.”
Teams who took part were Buildroute Ltd, Knauf Insulation, Castle Eden Ladies, Wynyard Dental Practice, BT Openreach, Westwaters Chartered Certified Accountants, Stuart Drummond, Yuill Group, Deepdale Solutions Ltd and J & B Recycling. £6790 was raised through team registration, sponsorship and a raffle and auction of donated prizes that took place on the day.
Tracy added “We would like to thank all the golfers who took part in the day along with all advertisers and sponsors as well as those who donated prizes. Special thanks go to Castle Eden Golf Club for their hospitality and support both on the day and prior to the event. Congratulations to Buildroute and Knauf Insulation who both walked away with team prizes, we hope to see them both again next year to defend their title.”
