Employment and Training

Hartlepool and District Hospice employs a combination of around 80 part time and full time staff dedicated to providing people living in the Hartlepool and east Durham areas of the UK with high quality care and support. This team is supported by a passionate and talented army of around 300 volunteers who help in all areas of the patient care, fundraising, housekeeping and administration. Every staff member and volunteer works within a culture of collective responsibility and in the spirit of equality of opportunity and diversity and where a work/life balance is encouraged.

Our staff and volunteers make the Hospice what it is
The Hospice recognises that these individuals are our greatest asset and we therefore invest in creating a pleasant working environment that offers them excellent facilities and opportunities. In return for this commitment we expect very high standards from all, standards which are maintained through continual personal and professional development.

This commitment was recognised nationally for the second year in a row with the presentation of a Nursing Times Award, which places the Hospice in the Top 100 places for nurses to work in the UK. As part of the award process staff were asked to rate their work place and the Hospice was noted particularly for its welcoming atmosphere of teamwork and professionalism.
