30 Years of Hospice Care
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Hartlepool and District Hospice.
Lorna Jones, Vice Chair of Trustees and daughter of Hospice Founder Alice Bendle was there when it all began. Lorna said “We’ve come a long way from that first meeting and we only hoped thirty years later we would still be providing our vital care for local people.”
“Although my Mum Alice Bendle led the group to bring this vision to reality she couldn’t have done it without the support and determination of the local community. The belief in this dream of the many supporters, volunteers, staff and friends along the way has impacted so many lives.”

“My mum died in 1993, spending her last days in the Hospice, so has missed a lot of our development including the move to the purpose built premises in Wells Avenue. However I know she would have been proud of what we have achieved and how passionate all our staff, volunteers, supporters and friends still are about continuing our work.”
“On behalf of the team at the Hospice I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of our history. Each one has played a valuable part in making Hartlepool and District Hospice what it is today. This is your hospice and you have made it what it is. Let us continue with this great work together.”
