How we are funded
Hartlepool and District Hospice exists to ensure people affected by life limiting illness or the death of a loved one have access to the specialist care, love and support they need. These services, including inpatient, outpatient and respite care, are unique to the area we serve and provide vital care and support to thousands of families each year.
However, as a registered charity that receives just 20 per cent funding from the Government, the Hospice must raise £2.8million this year to maintain these services, with £2.2million coming from the community and our own fundraising initiatives.
The Hospice's financial activities are regulated by the Charity Commission. A full copy of our latest Charity Commission return can be downloaded here.
The challenge ahead
However, this is only the beginning of the financial challenge the Hospice faces as we try to continue to better meet the needs of our patients. Each year more people are using our services, including increasing numbers of younger people and patients with more complex needs.
