Welcome to Hartlepool and District Hospice

MAKE A WILL MONTH 2012

Because sometimes, keeping your fingers crossed just isn't enough.

Everyone, whatever age or status, should have a professionally written, up-to-date Will.  Wills are important to make sure that your loved ones are cared for and provided for in the event of your death.  It will guarantee that any wishes you had during your lifetime are carried out after you die.  You may wish to outline specific requests you have for your funeral arrangements, or you may wish to nominate guardians for your children, should the unthinkable happen.

Watch this space for stories from Hospice Staff who will be making Wills during our Make a Will Month.

During May 2012, our Make a Will Month, local solicitors will be donating their fees of £100 for a single and £120 for a mirror Will.  If you would like to take this opportunity to make your Will and support your local Hospice please contact us for further information.  You can also download a LEAFLET and BROCHURE here.

Many people also like to leave room to help a cause that they believe in.  At Hartlepool & District Hospice we are committed to providing personalised care, which meets the needs of each individual patient as they approach the end of their life.  We also

Legacies are a crucial part of the Hospice's existence and it would simply not survive without the gifts we receive from legacies.  Every gift left in a Will, no matter how big or small, ultimately helps to pay for the care of local people.

The founder of your local Hospice, Alice Bendle, left a legacy, not only in the building but also in the specialised services the Hospice provides to the local population, which puts it at the heart of the local community. Will you help Alice's legacy to live on by leaving a gift in your Will to Hartlepool & District Hospice?

Hartlepool & District Staff Stories

John, age 66, Fundraiser, “I have been meaning to write my Will since I was a young man but have kept putting it off and realise now that time passes so quickly and my wife and I are now Grandparents.  We will be taking part in the Make A Will Month Campaign as I want to ensure that our wishes will be upheld when the time comes.  Since working at the Hospice, especially as part of the Fundraising Team, I am more aware than ever how important gifts left in Wills are to the future of the Hospice.”

Rebecca, age 32, Trust and Legacy Fundraiser, “I have been meaning to write my Will since I got married in 2008 and fell pregnant with my first son.  We were so busy and now have had a second child, that nearly 4 years down the line we still have not got round to making it!  My Husband and I will be taking part in this year’s ‘Make A Will month; Where there’s a Will there’s a Way’ as I want to ensure that our wishes will be upheld if anything should happen to us whilst our children are young.

Alison, age 40, Administration Officer, “Since my husband and I were married and started our young family I knew that we should make a Will.  We have put things in place in terms of life insurance but never seem to have got round to making a Will.  It’s something we have pushed to the back of our minds, not wanting to think that something might happen to one or both of us.  It’s really important to us that we can ensure continuity for our children and that they have the kind of upbringing we want, even if we are no longer here for them!”

Claire, age 27, Personalisation Lead: “I never thought making a will applied to me; I don’t own a home and have no children. But I was recently diagnosed with a long term health condition and this has made me think more about my future and ensuring my family are aware of my wishes should anything happen to me”

Anne, age 68, Director of Finance, “I wrote my Will over 10 years ago and my circumstances have now changed.  I will be rewriting my Will this year to take into account my new wishes.”

Holly, age 39, Fundraising Database Administrator, “I know I need a Will but have put it off and off because I didn’t know how to share my estate to my family.”

Michael, age 40, Database Manager, “My wife and I have wanted to write our Wills for years but have just never put it on the ‘to do’ list.  This year it going on the list and getting crossed off.”

So for whatever reason you have been putting off writing your Will, May 2012 is the time to do it with the Hospice's MAKE A WILL MONTH campaign!
